New To R/C Aviation

Where To Start 

  • It's easier than you think!  A quick email or phone call may be the first order of business. Talking with one of our club officers, or instructors can provide allot of helpful information on what would be a good first airplane, or to discuss your expectations of flying R/C models. Many airplanes are not suitable for learning, and are intended for pilots with advanced skill levels.

  • The group owns and maintains its own training aircraft,. This is used for training flights, intro flights and demonstrations.  Intro flights are geared to your specific skill level and needs.  Those new to R/C flying can experience the sport in total confidence. This is accomplished through a special link system allowing the student to fly while the instructor maintains ultimate control, thus preventing a crash. Bend Aero Modelers has R/C instructors available to help with people that are exploring the hobby for the first time, and for those wishing to expand their modeling experience all the way up to turbine, and participation is encouraged.   • Bend Aero Modelers is dedicated to the promotion of R/C model aircraft. While some of our members have interests that go way beyond aircraft, varying from cars, rockets, boats, and even model trains, our specific purpose is the promotion of safe operation of R/C aircraft.

  • Our group has many functions each year, ranging from fun-fly's, club pylon racing, work days, to an occasional Mall Show. Participation in events is voluntary.

Requirements for Membership

  • All Prospective members need to be members in good standing with the Academy of Model Aeronautics, "Proof of AMA is REQUIRED".

  • By Submitting our application you are agreeing to abide by our club Rules, Regulations, and the AMA Safety Code.

  • Renewal of Membership shall be payable on or before the January Meeting with LOSS of membership after March 31st.

  • There is currently no limit or waiting list for membership with BAM. We have an open membership policy.
